2023 Toyota Tacoma
Tough, responsive, and highly adaptable, the 2023 Toyota Tacoma is a midsize pickup in a class of its own. The Tacoma is now in its third generation, and it remains as popular as ever for its exceptional off-road capacities and overall reliability. For the 2023 year, Toyota added two appearance packages to its SR5 trim to provide a more stunning exterior look. If you're looking for a reliable midsize pickup, the Tacoma has much to offer.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Tacoma comes in seven trims, which include the SR, SR5, Trail Special Edition, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The base SR gets projector-beam headlights and a deck rail system that makes it easier to tie down just about anything in the truck's bed. Integrated fog lights, LED daytime running lights, heated power side mirrors, 16-, 17-, or 18-inch wheels, and a 1.1-inch suspension lift are possible on higher trims. With 10 stunning color options, it's also easier than ever to style your Tacoma to fit your personal taste.
Engine (Power)
A 2.7-liter inline four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission is standard in every Tacoma, and it produces 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Drivers desiring a stronger performance can opt for the 3.5-liter V-6, which produces 287 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. It pairs best with the optional six-speed manual transmission.
Performance
Equipped to handle even the toughest of back roads and trails, the newest Tacoma gets a variety of desirable off-road features. An electronic locking rear differential provides improved grip in low-traction conditions, while the truck's shocks offer a smoother, more comfortable ride quality. The Tacoma's advanced crawl control system works to modulate the throttle and brakes, allowing you to take on difficult terrain with ease. There's also a multi-terrain select system that allows you to choose between five different modes, depending on your terrain. A maximum towing capacity of 6,400 pounds means the Tacoma can haul a variety of items, including boats, small campers, and Jet Skis.
Interior
Toyota designed the Tacoma's interior to replicate its exterior toughness while still providing a certain degree of comfort and convenience. The entry-level SR trim offers cloth-covered manually adjustable front bucket seats with plenty of lumbar support, as well as a dual zone automatic climate control system and a telescoping steering wheel with audio controls. The Limited and TRD Pro add leather-trimmed seating surfaces for a more upscale, modern look. Two convenient USB charging ports allow for easier device charging, and the TRD Sport adds a wireless device charger. A six-speaker sound system and a 7-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. With higher trims, you can upgrade to an 8-inch setup.
Safety Features
Boasting the most standard safety features in its class, the Tacoma comes equipped with a 360-degree camera, as well as a forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking system. It also has a lane departure warning system and adaptive cruise control technology that's able to adjust the Tacoma to different road conditions. Higher trims add on a blind-spot monitor and a multitude of features aimed at optimizing towing.
